"Gazeta Polska" reports on the plans of the Polish government to build six nuclear units over the next 20 years, which will produce 20% of power.

Currently, Poland does not have any nuclear power plants, and its energy relied on high-emission coal. Solar panels and wind power plants cannot provide the required amount of power in the current weather conditions in Poland.

Therefore, the government has decided to build two nuclear power plants by 2043. Each of them will consist of three reactors with a total capacity of 6 to 9 gigawatts. The first reactor will be put into operation in 2033, and in 2037 the construction of the third reactor should be completed.

To implement the solution, an Agreement was struck with the American company "Westinghouse". The location of the first Polish nuclear power plant is near the Baltic Sea in the Pomeranian Voivodeship in the Lubyatów - Kopalina area. Construction is expected to begin in 2026.

An Agreement on the construction of the second nuclear power plant was also struck - the South Korean company KHNP was chosen.

According to the Polish Energy Development Program, the construction of the nuclear power plant is considered a strategic investment for the sustainable development of the country and providing Poland with a stable source of electricity for energy independence.

An important reason for the transition to nuclear energy is the desire to reduce climate change, as well as - in contrast to "green energy" - independence from the weather with zero CO2 emissions.

One nuclear power plant with a capacity of 1,500 megawatts, located on the surface of several tens of hectares, can replace 4,000 wind turbines of 1.5 megawatts each, which occupy an area of 144 square kilometers.

According to the authors of the Program, nuclear energy will make it possible to cut the cost of electricity for consumers and, as the experience of France, Sweden and the Canadian province of Ontario shows, to drastically cut CO2 emissions.

The construction of the first Polish nuclear power plant will increase the number of jobs to 8,000, mainly from the local labor market. During the construction of the nuclear power plant, more than 50% of the potential of Polish companies will be involved, which will make it possible to receive up to 70% of investments into nuclear energy.

It is emphasized that the funding of the project is provided by the American and Korean companies.

The Polish press notes that the US participation in the construction of the first nuclear power plant strengthens the strategic Polish-American alliance and meets the interests of both countries.
